Greenway

We found a new greenway this wknd that runs along a real river, as opposed to a big creek. It is an amazing place and only an 8 minute drive from our house. I love the oak trees in Raleigh and couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather for our "hike" today : )

Recycling 101

We had a big box on hand after a delivery so, of course, we built a fort! Lucas is pretty hard to please. At first I threw up some sheets to make a little cave and he told me that it was lame. So I got some more props and tried to make it better. While I was building it he kept critiquing my work. I told him that he should wait until I was finished to tell me what he thinks. A few minutes later he asked me if I was done yet and I told him no. A few minutes after that he asked me again and I said yes. You know what he said. "Mommy, it's still pretty lame." Stinker! So we worked together a little more until it met his high standards.

St*r W*rs Leg*s on the brain

We will be celebrating Lucas's 5th birthday soon! He wants a SWL themed party. We are having fun spending a lot of our afternoons making invitations and props for the party. And I am becoming a big SW fan as I watch the movies with Lucas : )

Happy Birthday Blane!

Blane celebrated his 5th birthday this wknd. And to make it even better, we found out he'll be going to the same elementary school as Lucas!

T-ball time!

We introduced basketball at age 3/4, soccer at age 4, and now it's time for baseball. I'm of course excited about this, and Jeff too since baseball was also his sport. Lucas wasn't a fan of the first two sports, but he went along with it. He seems to be a tiny bit more interested in t-ball, but that is probably mostly because his friends are on his team. Our team is playing on Friday nights at 5:30, which I think will be fun. It already brings back great memories to smell the freshly cut grass and the leather of the glove. Now if I can just keep Ellen off the field... our lady can't wait until she's old enough to do everything that her big brother does!

Jeff said Lucas wanted #60, but settled for 14 : )

Awwww!

These moments are usually few and far between, but lately we've seen Lucas and Ellen spending more time playing together or snuggled up for a movie. And of course their sweet doggie is right by their side : )

No Fear

Ellen takes after Lucas in that she doesn't have much fear of falling or getting hurt. Luckily she also has his good balance, which they must both get from Jeff! See the last picture. She just HAD to walk on this ledge like Lucas was doing!

Katie, Lucas, Tyler and Ellen Playdate

We hadn't seen our buds in a while, so we drove to a new park to play with them this morning. Lucas doesn't have many girlfriends, so I think it's cute and interesting to see him with his friend Katie. They played a lot of chase and hide and seek.

At one point Holly and I realized that Lucas and Katie had been hiding a long time. Tyler was supposed to be counting, but he had stopped for a snack break instead : ) Looks like Lucas and Katie were having a fun conversation and didn't mind.

Then it was time for sibling hide and seek. Katie and Tyler were counting while Lucas and Ellen were hiding. Note that it's in the same spot as the above pictures! Lucas isn't that good at this game yet : )

Happy Birthday Charles!

We miss our little friend, Charles. He turns 5 today! Hard to believe. Ellen struck some poses in his honor. Tyson was just there looking cute : )

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We've been spending a lot of time with just the three of us, or four of us when Jeff is home from work. Mostly because Ellen's nap schedule is shifting and doesn't align well with our friend's schedules. I've realized that it is a good thing for us just to hang as a family sometimes. I can see the bond between Lucas and Ellen growing stronger. I guess it's also that she's growing and can talk and interact more with Lucas. The second picture below is one where Lucas was in the chair watching a cartoon and Ellen joined him. For a few minutes (I missed it), they were both in the same position, side by side - love them : )

Spring weather is here...

We've been enjoying playing with our neighbors, Finn, Ele and Will in the afternoons... so happy that spring is almost here!
