Labor Day Wknd - Boone Trip

It is Labor Day Wknd so we decided to get out of town. I am craving cool weather, so we opted for the mountains over the beach. Boone is about a 3 hour drive from Raleigh. Our plan is to tour around the little towns of Boone and Blowing Rock today and then spend tomorrow, Sunday, at Grandfather Mountain.

The weather is wonderful! It could be a little cooler, but there is a hint of a breeze, which is better than we've had in Raleigh lately. Our first stop was at a really good restaurant called the Hob Nob Cafe in Boone. We liked it so much that we may go back for dinner. It is a cute, mountainy, hippy, serves-a-lot-of-vegetarian type of place.

Next stop was the town of Blowing Rock. And we actually visited The Blowing Rock, which the town is supposedly named after. Jeff and I are skeptical that it's more than a money making tourist trap, but we made some good memories there either way.
