What did we do in August?

You can find out by reading the new posts that begin on 8/21. We were having fun and taking pictures, but the blog got away from me for a few weeks....

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

Actually, it's kind of cozy and we need it, but we're getting a little bored...

It's Halloween Time!

That is how Lucas says it. It's Halloween time, or it's Fall time, or it's Christmas time. You get it.
My grandmother died 4 years ago today and I miss her SO much. She loved Halloween and would act so silly this time of year. She bought me many decorations over the years - a witch that lights up and screams, a pumpkin that giggles when you push it's belly, etc. I decided today that since this day reminds me of her (even though it was a bad day), we're going to make it our "Let's Start Halloween Day!"
We've got the PJ's and are working on the decorations. Lucas wants one of everything that they have at T*rget! This is fun... I see what Grandmother meant : )

Happy Birthday to Scott!

After the race we headed back home. Ms. Karen met us at home to watch this kids for a few hours so that we could go on a Modernist Home Tour of Raleigh. Sandy arranged this for Scott's birthday... it was really fun. There were 9 homes and we only made it to 6 because the bus drivers didn't have their routes figured out. It was just so nice, however, to be hanging out with Jeff and other adults for a few hours, sans kids, that we still had a good time.
After the tour it was back to home base to celebrate Scott's 35th birthday. Of course Lucas was all about this and positioned himself, as usual, right beside the birthday boy. Scott told Lucas that he could blow out the candles and Lucas said, "No I can't, silly! It's your birthday!"

Tyson can celebrate too... do you see him?

Race Day

You gotta love this girl. She is all smiles, even at 5:30 in the morning! Sandy and I were making snack packs for the day and trying to make a lot of noise so Lucas would wake up on his own...

We made it to the race by 6:45am. I always love to get there early and see the sun rising. There is such a buzz of excitement in the air. Here we are waiting for Jeff to finish his swim. This year they wouldn't let us stand and cheer right next to the water.

You never know how it's going to go when you wake two kids up before 6am and drag them to an adult filled, chaotic event, but Lucas and Ellen were great. Last year Lucas didn't understand why we would wait for Jeff and then he'd run right past him, but this year he was prepared for that. And Jeff did a great job of making a point to wave and say hi to Lucas each time he saw him.

Ellen got antsy a few times and asked Sasa to take her for a walk. See them here walking hand in hand : )

Here is our sweet boy waiting for his daddy...

... with his bunny. I mean if your little sister has one then you have to have one too!

Yay! Here comes Daddy! He was doing great... finished the swim in the top 80%.

... and there he goes... off to ride his bike for 12 miles.

Here he comes with his bike...

... and there he goes as Sasa and the kids cheer him on!

Where did my dada go?????

Towards the end as we were waiting for Jeff to finish we were near the guy who was calling out the names as the racers finished. Lucas said it hurt his ears :(

Here comes Daddy!!!

The kids were happy to see him. They wanted to know why he had #s on him and why he was drinking a soft drink : )

Jeff had three friends that raced this year... here he is with two of them, Adam and Britt.

And here he is with his two biggest fans!

Uh oh, the early wake up call finally caught up with her...

Wilmington Triathlon - 2010 Finale

Here we are at dinner the night before Jeff's big race. He trains all year with this race in mind. He will wake up at 4:45 in the morning, I'll take him to the race at 5:30 and then come back to get the kids and Sandy. We hope to be at the race by 7:00 to see Jeff get out of the water (ocean) at 7:20ish. Jeff likes to have pasta and chicken the night before the race. Mommy likes to have wine : )

Uncle Scott

Scott arrived today and we are so excited! He is going to hang out with us for a day and then with some friends in Chapel Hill while we go to Jeff's race. I could tell from watching him and the kids today that he is able to enjoy them much more at their current ages then when they were smaller. Ellen started showing off for him when he arrived - breaking out her yoga poses, which was perfect since is a yogi himself. Lucas was all about his Uncle Scott! The favorite part of Lucas's day today, and maybe even his whole week, was when Scott suggested that they watch The Neverending Story together. They sat on the couch together and I overheard Lucas asking Scott A LOT of questions - it was so cute : )
Scott also went with me to drop the kids off at preschool, meet their teachers, and see their classrooms...

Turned out to be a fun Sunday...

Jeff and I joke that every day is Lucas's birthday. This afternoon at the park there was a family that had put some plastic down the hill and was running a water hose from their house across the street. We went to check it out and Lucas and Lincoln got to slide down a few times.
It's a tie between Ian and Lincoln to who is Lucas's most favorite friend in the world. He always has a magnificant time with Lincoln... and Lincolns mom and dad... he loves them!

After they dried off we headed back to the playground for another hour of sand play and silly faces!

Georgia Tech Weekend

This weekend was so much fun! Our long time friends, the Kerrigans and the Boones, drove down from VA to go visit us. The visit was prompted by the GT/UNC football game. But because we had 5 kids under the age of 2 in the house, the mommies stayed home and played while the dads went to the game. Next time the mommies will go the spa.
Here is Ellen with sweet little Luke, who was about 2 months old.

And here is the whole gang, including Lucas, Elsa, Eli, Caleb, and Ellen...
