It was WONDERFUL! Jeff and I both have a good feeling about this new practice, the midwives and the hospital. Today we met with one of the four midwives, Kim. The first thing she did was spend 15 min with us going over our records and telling us about their practice. She said that they are open to anything we do or don't want to do during labor and that the hospital is the same way. She mentioned how well-liked the prenatal nurses are at this hospital. She said that they like for you to meet with each of the midwives and both of the doctors at least once. Since we only have about six more visits before Baby Schrades arrives, we'll only get to meet most of them once...but today we got introduced to another midwife named Jill in the hallway, so hopefully we'll get to casually meet them all a couple of times.
The next thing we did was measure my belly and listen to the h/b. She said the belly was on target and the h/b was too, but we forgot to ask for the exact rate. My b/p was 115/75, which is higher than the usual 100/60, but she said that it was probably due to being in a new place and wasn't concerned. I'll keep an eye on that though...
Lastly they had a lady meet with us to go over what our insurance policy covers. We thought this was nice that they want to make sure we're aware and comfortable with everything. We found out that Baby Schrades will cost about $8,000 to deliver ($3,000 for doctor and $5,000 for hospital)....thank goodness for insurance.
Our next appointment is 2/22 with Jill....

Total cost for pre-natal, birth, and post-natal care at the NC Women's Birth and Wellness is $5,000. What a deal!
